Does my data ever leave my computer?
No. All document processing, PII detection, and redaction happens entirely on your local machine. The only network call the app makes is a periodic license check-in (no document content is transmitted).

What's the redaction certificate?
A cryptographically signed, tamper-evident record of every redaction event — what was protected, when, and how many entities of each type. It verifies offline with standard public-key tools. It's documented diligence you can produce, not a compliance guarantee.
What is founder pricing?
The first 100 customers get $19/month or $190/year, locked for life — the rate never goes up for as long as you keep your subscription. After the 100 founder seats fill, standard pricing is $39/month or $390/year.
What happens if my subscription expires?
You get a 14-day grace period where the app continues to work normally (with a reminder). After that, the app enters read-only mode. Renewing restores full access immediately.
How many devices can I use?
Each license includes 2 device activations. You can deactivate a device at any time from the app settings to free up a slot.
Is there a free trial?

What file formats are supported?
PDF and DOCX. PDF processing includes text extraction with position data for precise redaction box placement.
Can I teach Lex Redactus my firm's specific case number format?
Yes — the Custom Patterns tool (System tab) lets you paste a few examples of any entity format your matters use. Lex Redactus infers the pattern automatically and applies it to all subsequent detections in that matter.
What happens if Lex Redactus tags a name I don't want redacted?
Click the X next to the entity. You'll be asked whether to suppress it just on this document or across the entire matter. The Don't-Tag list is matter-scoped and you can revisit it any time from the Matter settings panel.
How do updates work?
Lex Redactus checks for new versions on launch and shows a banner if one's available. The download happens in the background while you keep working. When you click Install, the new version replaces itself and relaunches automatically. macOS updates are signed and notarized by Apple.
